Oregon Law 1L Fellowship Opportunities

The Oregon Law 1L Fellowship Program provides an early and unique opportunity for a small group of entering Oregon Law first-year students to be introduced to a specific area of the law. You assist with project development, coordinate special lectures and events, and perform research. As a 1L Fellow, you play a role in impacting real-world problems as you work closely with dynamic professors and program directors. Fellowships carry a stipend of $4250.00, which is credited toward tuition.

- Business Law
- Criminal Law
- Empirical Legal Studies
- Environmental & Natural Resources Law
- Family Law (including domestic violence, elder law and child advocacy)
- International Law
- Public Policy & Government
- Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics (no longer accepting applications for 2013-14)
Eligibility: Applicants to the Oregon Law J.D. program are welcome to apply. (A student must be admitted to the Oregon Law J.D. program to be considered.) Fellows are chosen on the basis of their knowledge of and experience in a specific area of the law. A distinguished academic record is also heavily weighted.
Amount Awarded: A stipend of $4250.00 will be awarded to each Fellow. A Fellowship lasts for one academic year. (A Fellow may only hold one Fellowship.)
How to Apply: Submit a statement of interest and a resume. Your statement of interest should be 250 to 750 words in length and describe your knowledge of and experience in a specific area of the law. You should also describe your current interests and long-term goals and why you would be a good match for the 1L Fellowship Program. Your name (as stated on your application for admission) must be included on your statement of interest. Email your statement of interest and resume to the Admissions Office (email@example.com). Fellowship applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the Fellowships are filled. All candidates will be notified when the process has been completed.
